What Etsy fees do I pay on a $20 sale?
On a plain US Etsy Payments order, a $20 item is not “6.5% and done.” Using the public rates fetched 4 Oct 2026, and assuming no shipping, no gift wrap, no sales tax, quantity 1, and Offsite Ads off, the lines are $1.30 transaction, $0.85 payment processing, and $0.20 if you count the listing fee. That is $2.35 before your own cost.

Processing: United States row is 3% + $0.25 USD, on the total sale price including shipping and sales tax if you charge tax (payment processing fees). Listing: $0.20 whether or not it sells. What changes the $2.35
| You charge shipping | Both the 6.5% and the 3% apply to shipping you charge. $4.00 shipping makes the base $24.00. Transaction becomes $1.56. Processing becomes 3% of $24.00 ($0.72) plus $0.25, or $0.97. Listing stays $0.20. Those lines are $2.73, not $2.35. |
|---|---|
| Sales tax | Etsy’s processing help says the processing percent includes sales tax if you charge tax. This $20 sketch does not add tax. Don’t subtract buyer tax from your price and call it profit. |
| Offsite Ads | Only if that order is attributed. At 15%, $20.00 would add $3.00, still under the $100 cap on Etsy’s fees help. Most orders are not attributed. Details are on the Offsite Ads fee page. |
| Your cost | Not an Etsy fee. If the blank or the unit costs you $8.00, that comes out of the $17.65. AfterFees does not log into a print shop. You type the dollars. |
Run your own price, not just $20
- Type the price you would actually publish, plus shipping you charge.
- Leave processing and the 6.5% line on. Add the $0.20 listing line if this sale should carry it.
- Type what the unit costs you. That is the number a fee table leaves out.
- Read estimated take-home on your machine. Nothing is uploaded.

FAQ
Is it just $1.30?
No. $1.30 is only 6.5% of $20. US processing on this sketch is another $0.85, and the listing fee is $0.20 if you include it.
Why is processing $0.85 and not $0.60?
3% of $20 is $0.60. The United States row also adds a $0.25 flat fee. Together that is $0.85. See the payment processing page.
Does this match the deposit?
No. Your Payment account is the record. Etsy can round a cent differently, and shipping, tax, Offsite Ads, or a label you bought will not match this empty sketch.
Will these dollar amounts stay true?
Only while the public rates stay 6.5%, 3% + $0.25, and $0.20. Re-read Etsy’s help when a sale looks different. This page is a 4 Oct 2026 snapshot.
