Etsy payment processing fee
The payment processing fee is not the 6.5% transaction fee. On Etsy Payments it is a percent plus a flat fee, and the row depends on where your bank account is. For a United States bank account, Etsy’s public processing table lists 3% + $0.25 USD per order. That percent is of the total sale price, including shipping and sales tax if you charge tax — not only the item price.
Not affiliated with Etsy. Estimates only — not your Payment account and not tax advice. The United States row and the 6.5% transaction line were read from Etsy’s public help on 4 Oct 2026. They can change. If a number here disagrees with your statement, use Etsy’s payment processing fees help.
AfterFees 0.3.0 runs processing and the other fee lines on your computer, next to the listing price. No Etsy password.
What the US processing line is
| US bank account | 3% + $0.25 USD per Etsy Payments order. Etsy’s table calls this a percent of the total sale price plus a flat fee. |
|---|---|
| What the percent hits | The total sale price, including shipping, and sales tax if you charge tax on the listing. A $20 item with shipping is not a $20 processing base. |
| Not this fee | The 6.5% transaction fee is separate. Etsy’s processing help says processing is in addition to that 6.5% on the cost of the entire order. Listing is another $0.20 when you publish, renew, or sell extra quantity. Offsite Ads is only if that order is attributed. |
| Other countries | The percent and the flat fee change with the bank-account country. Do not copy the US row onto a UK, EU, or Canada shop. Read the row for your bank on the help page. |
| Refunds | If you refund an Etsy Payments sale, Etsy says the processing fee is credited proportionally to the refund amount. |
Sources, public help fetched 4 Oct 2026: payment processing fees (United States row: 3% + 0.25 USD) and fees and taxes (6.5% transaction fee, including shipping and gift wrap you charge; $0.20 listing). Regulatory operating fees on that page are for other countries, not this US processing row.
A $20 item, processing called out
Illustration only: $20.00 item, no shipping charged, no gift wrap, no sales tax in the base, quantity 1. Using the public US rates above and half-up cents:
| Processing base | $20.00 |
|---|---|
| 3% of $20.00 | $0.60 |
| Flat processing fee | $0.25 |
| Payment processing | $0.85 |
| Transaction 6.5% (separate) | $1.30 |
| Listing, if you count it on this sale | $0.20 |
| Those three lines | $2.35 |
Charge $5.00 shipping and the processing base becomes $25.00. Processing is then 3% of $25.00 ($0.75) plus $0.25, or $1.00. The 6.5% transaction line on that $25.00 is $1.63. Sales tax, if the buyer pays it and it is in the sale total, raises the processing base again. This sketch does not add tax. Etsy’s own rounding can differ by about a cent. This is not a Payment account screenshot.
Check the processing line before you publish
- Type the price and the shipping you charge the buyer. That is the processing base when there is no sales tax in the sketch.
- Leave the US processing line on (3% + $0.25) and the 6.5% transaction line on. They are not the same fee.
- Add the $0.20 listing line only if you want it in this sale. Flip Offsite Ads only if you are testing an attributed order.
- Read estimated take-home on your machine. Nothing is uploaded.

FAQ
Is the Etsy payment processing fee 6.5%?
No. 6.5% is the transaction fee. Payment processing is a separate country rate. On the public table fetched 4 Oct 2026, a US bank account is 3% + $0.25 per order.
Why isn’t 3% of my item price the whole fee?
Etsy adds a flat $0.25 on the US row, and the percent applies to the total sale price, including shipping and sales tax if you charge tax. On a $20 item with no shipping and no tax in the sketch, processing is $0.85, not $0.60.
Do I pay processing if the listing never sells?
No. Processing is charged on each transaction that uses Etsy Payments. The $0.20 listing fee is different: Etsy charges that when you list, whether or not it sells.
Does every country pay 3% + $0.25?
No. Etsy publishes a different percent and flat fee by bank-account location. Use the row for your bank, not the United States row, if your account is somewhere else.
Will this rate stay the same?
Don’t count on it. Re-read Etsy’s payment processing help when a deposit looks different. This page is a 4 Oct 2026 snapshot.
